No.77 .........off to the paint shop for a
shiny new coat!
In October 2005 following a change of
ownership, Superlight R no.77 was treated to beautiful new paintwork.
To maintain the providence a colour change
was out of the question, therefore the chassis tub would be painted again in the
original colour ... Lotus Elise Azure Blue.
All external
components were stripped from the chassis including the carbon fibre panels,
windscreen, suspension, exhaust, and every popper base, including the ones at
the upper edge of the interior panels to "peel" the panels back, ensuring a
complete absence of an "old paint meets new join". The difference
between good and excellent is usually in the detail!
With the engine
still fitted the masking process is substantial to avoid any overspray in
unwanted area.
Preparation is
the key to success with many small dents and knocks needing to be repaired
.......
including the
scuttle ......
and a very well
used engine cover!
With this
amount of work needed there could be reason to replace some of the worst panels,
but none are so bad that it is justified.
